Portland, OR — Today, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recognized Â鶹¹ú²úAV for being one of the colleges and universities with the highest number of students selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Fulbright Top Producing Institutions such as Â鶹¹ú²úAV value global connection and support members of their campus communities across the United States to pursue international opportunities.

Since 1966, Â鶹¹ú²úAV has graduated 129 Fulbright students, including four who were selected for Fulbright awards for academic year 2024–25.

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program. Fulbrighters exchange ideas, build people-to-people connections, and work to address complex global challenges.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Top Producing Institution for Fulbright Students. Congratulations to all the students, faculty, and staff involved. I am impressed by the breadth and depth of scholarship exhibited by the winners, and excited to see more Â鶹¹ú²úAVies have an impact on a complex and changing world," said Â鶹¹ú²úAV President Audrey Bilger.

The Center for Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV (CLBR) and the campus Fulbright committee composed of faculty and staff collaborate to ensure that Â鶹¹ú²úAV seniors and alumni have the support they need to take a first step toward a life-changing prestigious fellowship.

“The Center for Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV’s goal is to create a culture where students get excited about opportunities beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV. We are thrilled that 10% of the senior class applied for a Fulbright in the current cycle, a 63% increase over previous years,” said Alice Harra, director of the Center for Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

“The faculty and staff join together to support students who apply to the Fulbright program. It is a clarifying experience for applicants to see the potential impact they can have on a global scale, so they can imagine engagement beyond their immediate communities. Even if they don’t receive an award, applicants will have expanded their thoughts about professional and academic advancement,” said Nate Martin ’16, CLBR’s associate director of data & systems.
